Event Details

With the recent passage of Proposition 39, many are now asking how the State of California will disburse the funds generated by this new legislation.  Joining us for lunch on February 8th is Senator Kevin de León, Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and an advocate of renewables and energy efficiency.

Aaron Klemm, Energy Manager for the City of Huntington Beach, will join the Senator on-stage to share the municipal perspective, and the importance of leveraging these new funds for cost-effective, highly-visible projects that will not only save public agencies over the course of the project's lifetime, but also provide a unique opportunity for municipalities to upgrade some of their most critical public-facing infrastructure.

It is anticipated that up to $550 million dollars will be available annually through 2018 for energy efficiency retrofits and renewable energy generation projects for schools, universities, and other public facilities.  These funds may also be appropriated to assist municipalities in establishing PACE programs, in-depth technical assistance for solar power purchase agreements, and workforce development training.  If you work for a municipality, public agency, or an installer and would like to learn more about how you can compete for these funds, register today while space is available.

How Prop 39 funds are allocated remains to be seen; one of CleanTech OC's principal goals is to advocate for Orange County receiving its fair share of state funding for related projects, and we are honored to have the Senator join us for this important conversation.
